Our Vision

The Understanding Risk group is an interdisciplinary social sciences (psychology, sociology and technology studies, geography) research unit focusing on the impacts upon individuals and communities, and acceptability to people, of environmental and technological risk within everyday life. We have expertise in: the psychology of climate change; public attitudes towards and acceptability of energy supply systems; sustainable behaviour change and energy demand reduction; social conflicts and sitting of large scale energy technologies; risk perception, communication and public engagement.
