Social cognition in the early years

Between birth and beginning school, children develop a rich understanding of their social world. This understanding draws on unique abilities that emerge during infancy. Social abilities influence cognitive and communicative development throughout infancy and early childhood. Our aim is to understand the social and biological foundations of social cognition. Understanding these foundations can contribute to parenting and education programmes.
