Research by PhD
Cardiff School of Psychology is an excellent environment in which to do research. We were ranked first in the UK for “research power” in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), and obtained the highest possible rating, 5*, in both previous assessments (1996, 2001). The Postgraduate Students sections within the Academics' Profile Pages hold information on the broad range of expertise within the School which allows us to provide training in an unusually wide range of areas and techniques.
At present there are around 100 postgraduate research students within the School. We have a variety of schemes available and welcome applications from UK, EU and non-EU citizens. We have recently accepted students from both within the EC (Belgium, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain) and outside (Turkey, Romania, Canada, India, Malaysia, Taiwan).
Our facilities are world-class, with a large number of purpose-built laboratories that have all been refurbished within the last five years, as well as CUBRIC (Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre). Integration across different disciplines and between Psychology and other Schools provides unique opportunities for multidisciplinary research projects.
