Prior to doctorate training I gained experience working as an Assistant Psychologist in Community Learning Disability Services, in Inpatient Services for adults with ASD and challenging behaviour, in a Memory Clinic, and in a Psychological Therapy Service.
Since qualifying, my clinical experience has been primarily in forensic mental health, working with men and women in secure settings from a recovery-focused and trauma-informed perspective. I have an interest in third-wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and systemic approaches including Mindfulness, Schema Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Cognitive analytic Therapy and Positive Behavioural Support. I am clinic lead for a hospital DBT service and I am committed to the development and implementation of PBS in a secure setting. A key interest of mine is working with staff teams through reflective practice, consultation and case discussion so as to promote psychologically-informed approaches to care and treatment.
