My research is concerned with hearing impairment and binaural hearing.
Binaural hearing helps listeners to understand speech in noise, but some hearing impaired listeners demonstrate little benefit from binaural hearing. One would expect that hearing aids would help but this is not always the case. The focus of my research will be directed towards improving our understanding of this process and the difficulties encountered by hearing aid users with the ultimate goal of helping hearing aids users understand speech in the presence of competing noise.
